About Us

Our Mission

We follow our mission

Education Support Initiative Inc. is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that aims to promote, encourage, and enhance educational opportunities for women & children from underprivileged communities—locally, regionally, and internationally—on a secular and inclusive basis.

We are committed to transforming lives in underserved areas of developing countries, especially Pakistan, through education, empowerment, and equitable access. Our initiatives focus on training healthcare workers to strengthen frontline care, educating individuals with physical and mental disabilities, and empowering women and children through inclusive learning opportunities.

Our mission is rooted in the belief that education is not a privilege, but a right—and that every life holds potential, regardless of circumstance.

Our History

Education Support Initiative Inc. (ESI)

A Vision Born at Reunion — July 2018, Dallas, Texas

At the Dow Medical College Class of 1980 reunion, Dr. Mustafa Husain—a respected alumnus and Professor of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center—shared a bold vision: What if their class legacy wasn’t just about memories but about transforming lives in Pakistan?

Moved by the challenges faced by marginalized communities, he proposed the creation of a volunteer-led, diaspora-driven nonprofit focused on:

The vision struck a powerful chord. Alums from the U.S., UK, Canada, the Middle East, and Pakistan pledged their support. Among the early leaders were Dr. Waseem Ahmed, Dr. M. Kaleem Arshad, Dr. Nasir Moghal, Mir Hadi Ali, and Anis Ally, who helped establish the foundation for what would soon become Education Support Initiative, Inc. (ESI)—a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the United States.

— Dr. Mustafa Husain

“Reunions should be more than nostalgia—they should spark purpose.
Our legacy isn’t just where we trained, but what we give back.”

Model Works

Why Our Model Works

Volunteer-led, diaspora-driven, sustainability-focused model delivering education and healthcare for lasting community impact.

100% Volunteer-Run

Education Support Initiative operates with no paid staff or overhead costs. Every dollar supports programs that educate children with disabilities and underserved youth, and train frontline healthcare workers. Our all-volunteer model ensures maximum impact, transparency, and trust—your donation goes exactly where it’s needed most: saving lives and shaping futures.

Diaspora-Led

ESI is led by global alumni who share deep roots with the communities we serve. These professionals offer funding, mentorship, and oversight grounded in cultural understanding. Their leadership ensures education and healthcare training programs are locally relevant, responsibly managed, and designed for real-world impact where access is limited and the need is urgent.

Sustainability-Focused

We focus on lasting solutions, not temporary aid. By training local educators and healthcare workers, we build self-reliance and long-term impact. Children with disabilities gain access to learning, and trained midwives and health workers save lives in poor communities—creating a cycle of empowerment that transforms families and strengthens entire regions.
