The Memorial Scholarship Program offers donors the opportunity to honor the memory of their loved ones in a meaningful and lasting way. This initiative serves as a form of Sadaqah Jariyah—a continuing charity—by funding the complete education of a midwife over a two-year training period.
A one-time donation of approximately $2,600 supports the full academic journey of one student scholar. In recognition of your contribution, the scholarship will be named in memory of your loved one, creating a lasting legacy that continues to save lives through skilled maternal care.
Each named scholarship connects a life saved to a life remembered.
We are deeply grateful to our generous donors who have made these scholarships possible. The following named scholarships are currently supporting students in our program:
Honoring a Life of Healing, Service, and Sacrifice
Established by her husband, Dr. M. Kaleem Arshad, the Dr. Jameela Yasmeen Arshad Memorial Scholarship honors the extraordinary life and legacy of a woman whose compassion knew no bounds.
Dr. Jameela Arshad was a respected neurologist and a beacon of empathy and service. She graduated from George Washington University School of Medicine in 1981 and trained in General Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Neurology at Washington Hospital Center (Washington, DC), Franklin Square Hospital (Baltimore, MD), and Tulane University Medical Center (New Orleans, LA).
Beyond her medical accomplishments, Dr. Arshad was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a deeply trusted friend. She dedicated her life to caring for the underserved and lost her life in 2005 while performing an act of Good Samaritan care.
This scholarship continues her mission by supporting students—especially those from underserved communities—who aspire to serve others through medicine, public health, or humanitarian work.
“To serve the suffering is not only a calling—it is a sacred trust.”
