Since its inception, the Education Support Initiative (ESI) has actively supported the Midwifery Training Program at Kohi Goth College of Nursing and Midwifery, located in Karachi—Pakistan’s largest metropolis.
This intensive two-year program offers comprehensive education in:
Foundational Knowledge
Antenatal, Intranatal, Intrapartum, Postnatal, and Neonatal Care
Communication and Counseling Skills
Clinical Practicum: Supervised, hands-on training in hospitals, clinics, and community settings, including managing deliveries, providing home-based maternal care, and handling obstetric emergencies like pre-eclampsia, hemorrhage, and obstructed labor.
The program is overseen by Dr. Shaheen Zafar and Dr. Shabeen Naz Masood, both Dow Medical College graduates, Class of 1980.
Female applicants with at least a high school education (10 years)
Priority given to those from rural or underserved communities
Strong interest in maternal and newborn healthcare
Willingness to serve in under-resourced regions upon graduation
