President, Education Support Initiative (ESI)
Dr. M. Kaleem Arshad is President of ESI and has served on its Board since the organization’s founding.
A 1980 graduate of Dow University of Health Sciences, he practiced psychiatry in the New Orleans area for thirty-five years. He completed postgraduate training at Meharry Medical College, Texas Tech University, and Tulane University, held teaching appointments at LSU and Tulane University Schools of Medicine, and has been board-certified in adult, addiction, geriatric, and forensic psychiatry.
The founder and president of Physician Care, Dr. Arshad, served as Chief of Medical Staff and Medical Director at several regional hospitals. A Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, he also served as President of the Louisiana Psychiatric Medical Association and the Dow Graduate Association of North America. He also served as the Medical Director of the Grief Resource Center.
A committed advocate for mental health reform, Dr. Arshad testified before the Louisiana State Legislature and served on the boards of the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater New Orleans and the Human Development Foundation of North America.
