Dr. Zahid Basheer
Treasurer, Education Support Initiative (ESI)
Dr. Zahid Basheer is a physician, ethicist, and educator dedicated to advancing healthcare and education in underserved communities. A 1980 Dow University of Health Sciences graduate, he completed his Internal Medicine training at UCSF, followed by a Master’s in Medical Ethics and Public Policy from UC Berkeley. He later earned a Ph.D. in Ethics and Law from the University of Arizona, Tucson.
Based in Tucson, Dr. Basheer consults with hospitals, academic institutions, and corporations, offering healthcare delivery, ethics, and policy guidance. He also teaches and organizes seminars at the University of Arizona, where he is known for inspiring dialogue on justice and equity in healthcare.
As Treasurer of the Education Support Initiative (ESI), Dr. Basheer brings strategic vision and ethical leadership to programs that empower underserved populations through education and healthcare training. He believes education is the most powerful force for transforming lives and uplifting communities.
